Report for Sunday, September 10th, 2000
Jean-Marc Palmier's North Coast Rocketry SA-14 Archer on an Aerotech G80-4T
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:06:33 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 35 |
|
|
|
| This flight was cut short by a very short delay in this G80 motor which caused a zipper to form at the top of the body tube. The delay was at best two seconds. Other than that, it was a nice flight. |
Isabel Deslauriers' Estes R2-D2 on an Estes C6-3
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:07:29 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 16 |
|
|
|
| R2-D2 flew into the blue sky for a great flight. I've seen people on the net complain about how poorly this model flies, but I've seen nothing but perfect flights from R2-D2's so far. | |
Flight 453, 104th
flight this year
Keith Bedard's QED Dude on an Estes D12-5
for its 1st flight
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:13:55 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 24 |
|
|
|
| My own virgin QED Dude took to the air for its first flight and it turned in a great flight with no damage. It landed in the spectator area where someone caught it! :-) | |
Isabel Deslauriers' LOC/Precision Graduator on an Aerotech E15-4W
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:16:32 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 32 |
|
|
|
| The flagship of Isabel's fleet, her Graduator turned in a spectacular flight on an E15-4W from my own Mantis launch pad on Pad 6. Excellent flight!! |
Isabel Deslauriers' Estes Transwing Super Glider on an Estes C6-3
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:27:27 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 38 |
|
|
|
| It was time for Transwing Super Glider to fly again... Before the countdown, Isabel said "Ça c'est la bonne," confident that this flight would turn out better than the Super Glider's first flight today. Well it did turn out better and the glider functioned perfectly with a nice long duration and long distance circular glide towards the end of the field. Very impressive flight! |
Dominique Martel's Estes Heliocopter on an Estes C6-5
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:29:13 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 46 |
| Dominque's Heliocopter turned in a really cool flight with the helicopter recovery nose cone landing right beside the booster! |
Nick Palis' scratch built Atria on an Estes D12-7
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:30:14 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 12 |
| This unidentified rocket flew on an Estes D12-7 with a great boost, but no chute deployment so it came down REAL fast. I don't know if it took any damage or not, but I assume that it did considering the rate of descent. |
Flight 454, 105th
flight this year
Keith Bedard's LOC/Precision Hi-Tech H45 on an Aerotech G40-7W for its
2nd flight
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:37:59 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 101 |
| My own Hi-Tech H45 went up on only my second ever "G" flight to one hell of a high altitude! It landed about 400 feet west of the pad as Yves said, "Keith, you must be proud".... yes I was. :-) When I recovered it, it had one nasty "Estes dent" at the top of the body tube meaning that I'll have to replace the upper four inches of it. | |
"To G or not
to G..."
Aerotech G-Force drag race, both on Aerotech G80-7T's
| Pad 7 | Pad 9 | |
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:40:50 | 14:40:50 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 46 | 27 |
| This drag race featured the most powerful rockets used in today's drag races... two Aerotech G-Forces on Aerotech G80's. They took off simultaneously for a pair of very impressive boosts. One parachute failed to deploy, but that rocket descended at a surprisingly slow rate... so slow that I doubt that the rocket was even damaged. The G-Force on Pad 7 is Pierre Laurendeau's and the one on Pad 9 is Jacques Beauséjours'. | |
C. Garrett's Estes Scorpion on an Estes B4-4 for its 2nd flight
| Time at Liftoff: | 14:47:36 |
| Flight Duration in Seconds: | 33 |
| Mr. Garrett's Scorpion went up for its second ever flight, this time on an Estes B4-4 and this missile moved FAST! Great flight! |
