Launch
Report for February 16th, 1982
(Written on Sunday, August 20th, 2000 based
on flight logs from 1982/02/16)
My friend Tony & I were out for another after school winter launch and I brought my first Estes Alpha III along with my Estes Big Foot launch pad. The skies were clear and there was a light breeze coming in out of the east.
Flight 23, 2nd flight
this year
Estes Alpha III 01 on a Centuri A8-3 for its 6th flight
This flight was my first use of a Centuri motor. I had originally
ordered a dozen Canaroc A8-3's along with a bunch of other Canaroc motors, but
they didn't have any more of the Canaroc A8-3's so they substituted the more
expensive Centuri ones instead. It was a beautiful flight and it's hard to
say whether this would classify as my first evening flight since the sky was
becoming a darker blue which made the flight look that much better. The
chute ejected, but it didn't open though and it came down fins first on the
ice.... no damage though.
