Launch Report for Sunday, September 3rd, 2000
(Page 2 of 2)

Flight 445, 96th flight this year
Custom Serval on an Estes B4-4 for its 8th flight

Time at Liftoff:
Flight Duration in Seconds: 15
Distance from Launch Pad in Feet: 191 southwest
Serval is becoming one of those rockets that I have to fly every time I go out to launch... another great flight!  Flight duration was a mere 15 seconds since it comes down on a streamer.

Flight 446, 97th flight this year
Estes Alpha on an Estes A3-4T for its 1st flight

Time at Liftoff:
Flight Duration in Seconds: 23
Distance from Launch Pad in Feet: 76 southwest
Still unpainted, I just had to fly my Alpha today...  Being lighter than its cousin the Alpha III, it tends to fly faster & higher.

Flight 447, 98th flight this year
Estes Alpha on an Estes A3-4T for its 2nd flight

Time at Liftoff:
Flight Duration in Seconds: 29
Distance from Launch Pad in Feet: 91 southwest
Sent it up again for another great flight although this time, the parachute shroud lines got caught in the fins so the rocket came down balanced horizontally as can be seen in the photo at left.

Flight 448, 99th flight this year
Estes Astro Bee on an Estes A3-4T for its 3rd flight

Time at Liftoff:
Flight Duration in Seconds: 54
Distance from Launch Pad in Feet: ~250 southwest
My vintage Astro Bee was almost lost forever after a landing in a tree on a front lawn across the street.  The kids at that house were all too eager to climb the tree and recover it for me though for which I'm extremely thankful.  Distance from the pad wasn't measured but was estimated at about 250 feet and flight duration was a whopping 54 seconds on an "A" motor!  Note the wadding coming down right beside the rocket in the photo at left.

Flight 449, 100th flight this year
Estes Mongoose on an Estes B6-0 staging to an Estes B6-6 for its 5th flight

Time at Liftoff:
Flight Duration in Seconds:
Distance from Launch Pad in Feet: ~300 southwest
This was a great flight, but unfortunately without a recovery.  It landed behind a house across the street and no one was home so I wasn't about to trespass on someone's property to get it back.  I may still get this rocket back since I'll continue to try to contact these people and also, my phone number is on the rocket.

Great flying weather today and if it wasn't for the wasted time trying to recover rockets that got lost, I would have been able to do many more flights.  Still a fun day though and I WILL get my Mongoose back... oh yes... :-)
